Cataract Extraction with Lens Implantation

Cataract extraction is an option for people who have clinically significant lens opacity. The only treatment option is surgery.

Sutureless Cataract Surgery (phaco)

Phacoemulsification cataract surgery is a modern procedure that uses an ultrasonic device to break up and remove the cataract from the eye to improve vision. Insertion of the intraocular lens (IOL) usually follows the phacoemulsification immediately to compensate for the eye’s refractive errors.

This technique removes the need for anesthetic injection behind the eye and the need for sutures. the surgery is completed without stitches since the micro-incisions are designed to be self-sealing.

Benefit for patients also includes safety, reduced surgery time, relief from stress and discomfort, minimized risk of complications and higher success rate.

Following are types of IOLs available

Standard, Single Focus Lens

This lens can correct for the impairment caused by the cataract

Toric Lens

With a toric IOL, patients will have the added benefit of vision improvement to correct astigmatism.

Multifocal Lens

corrects the patient’s ability to see at a distance, and can provide an improved ability to adjust focus at near or intermediate distances. A multifocal IOL can virtually eliminate a dependence on glasses for most patients. Some patients may still use glasses to see very fine details up close

Multifocal Toric Lens

A multifocal toric lens provides all the same benefits of a multifocal lens, but also corrects for astigmatism.

Pseudo Accommodative Lens

The pseudo accommodative lens is designed to mimic the actions of a natural lens.Pseudo accommodative IOLs can reduce or even eliminate a dependence on corrective glasses.
